But we used it for lining, and the result was unsatisfactory. The reason is that it doesn’t have enough punch to penetrate deeply into the skin. It may even struggle on tougher-skinned parts of the body to achieve fine-line results.

As an ink artist, my studio team and I have always been big fans of the Ambition brand for its quality products, whether the Ambition Ninja or the Ambition Soldier. The Ambition Ninja has more advanced and premium features, including a higher storage battery capacity and a 4.0mm stroke length, than the Ambition Soldier. But it’s also a bit more expensive.

 The Frame of Ambition Ninja is made with an aluminum alloy and is finished with CNC carving. Each part of it, from top to bottom, is easy to replace and maintain. This professional wireless tattoo machine is available in three different variations, and the version we tested was short with an extra short battery.  This version is 130mm long, weighs 205 grams, and has a diameter of 34mm ( lighter than the Ambition Soldier).

Its design and shape have a modern, beautiful, thick, and elegant appearance. Moreover, holding it steadily in hand feels very smooth and comfortable. But, its controls could be more impressive.

The battery timing of the Ambition Ninja is truly impressive, which lasts 5 hours and 55 minutes without needing a recharge. This means you can work on your tattoo designs without interruptions. We also purchased an extra-short backup battery with the same storage capacity (1650 mAh).  It means both batteries can give you more than 10 hours of battery timing.

The kit also includes an RCA adapter to switch between battery and direct power easily. Furthermore, the battery has a USB-C interface, which means faster charging. In terms of performance, it is truly impressive with its installed Japanese Coreless Motor capable of providing a speed of 9000RPM on 10V. However, compared to other top-brand rotary pen machines like the Mast Archer, Solong, and SAIKOYA, its motor needs to be more powerful to deliver a consistently solid performance.

 The voltage of Ambition Ninja is adjustable and can range from 5V to 10V. It allows for voltage changes in two ways; by pressing the internal button shortly, it increments by 0.1. And by pressing it for a longer duration, it increments by 0.5. Overall, this is a unique feature rarely found in other wireless tattoo machines. Moreover, the upgraded LED display screen on top shows the voltage and battery status. However, we don’t like its display quality, as there were scratches on the LED screen.

Overall, the display is clear enough to see important information. Its stroke length is 4 mm, providing a nice hard-hitting feel, which is excellent for creating solid and bold lines.  In other words, the Ambition Ninja is good tattoo machine for lining, color packing, and different types of body artwork. Moreover, it is compatible with major brands of tattoo needles.

This is another excellent, fully wireless pen-style tattoo machine from the Dragonhawk brand. The Mast Lancer looks like a modified version of previous generation Mast products, such as Archer and Saber. Unlike the Mast Archer model, it has a slimmer design that is lightweight, and has a replaceable battery option.

Mast Lancer has the thickest aluminum grip, which is well-balanced. As a result, it fits very well in hand. Also, it comes with two extra rubberized plastic grips to give full control over the device. But its grip is noisy when twisting. From a design perspective, it is heavy compared to Archer machines. With the battery, it weighs 195g; it is still lightweight compared to the Ambition Soldier.

This tattoo pen has outstanding and smooth exterior designs. But they all share a common issue – the inability to fully clean the machine by accessing the pushing rod. This device also has the same problem. However, setting up and cleaning its external parts is still super easy. 

Like other Mast products, it has a 3.5mm stroke length, which is good for versatile tattooing designs. However, more than 3.55mm is needed to get solid lines. To do this, you would have to push anything larger than three lines extra hard, which can damage the skin. Therefore, it could be better for lining work, but with a 3.5mm stroke length, it is still great for shading work. 

We were especially impressed by the Mast Lancer’s battery performance. It comes with two 1900mAh batteries, which have impressive battery timing. We used the pen for tattooing for more than 4 hours for testing, and the battery level only dropped from 100% to 20%. Mast Lancer can easily perform more than 12 hours of body artwork on a single charge.

We also want to remind you to be extra careful when changing the battery wrap. If the wrap gets damaged, it can destroy the unity of the machine and even explode in your hands. Mast Lancer is installed with a coreless motor capable of running the device at 12V with a speed of 10,500 RPM. It’s worth mentioning that, unlike other wireless tattooing devices, the Mast Lancer allows for precise increments in voltage.

For example, you can increase the voltage by 0.1V at a time, providing greater speed control. Also, it has very low vibration and operates quietly, unlike the Mast Saber, which runs quite loudly and produces some extra vibration. Moreover, it has a digital display screen to show the battery percentage and adjusted voltage. However, unlike the Archer, this one has a square display screen and is also very small.

Its ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold steady without hand fatigue. But this wireless tattoo gun creates noticeable vibrations that may feel uncomfortable to hold. However, you can minimize vibrations by inserting a tight cartridge.

The kit also includes different sizes of 50 cartridge needles, which can be used to practice on fake skin. But these cartridges are not suitable for professional-level work.

The machine comes with a battery, but it seems defective. When we checked, it was very loose in fitting, and even when we tried to squeeze it in, it wouldn’t stay put. The battery performance is not up to mark like other wireless tattoo machines on the market. 

The device is configured with a Taiwan-made 10W motor that performs solid. However, the machine starts making a weird noise during a steady performance, although it’s not too noticeable.
